We, the Cleanliness Club, Shri Sai Baba Aadarsh Mahavidyalaya, Ambikapur, had taken up an initiative of Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan/Cleanliness Drive as an extension of Swatchhta Abhiyan being organized and conducted by the Government of India. The project was executed into two phases, viz., Nukkad Natak (Street-Play) and door-to-door awareness campaign.
The members of the club performed a Nukkad Natak (Street-Play) in the college as well as various villages. The purpose of this play was to first make students aware about the benefits of cleanliness and public health. The play was performed in local Language so that the message passes on clearly. At the end of the play, students were made to take an oath of performing all the duties to keep the environment clean and healthy in their houses and outside as well.
After the street play, the members of the club went to each and every house of the village to create awareness about the cleanliness. All the members of the house, especially females, were given the guidance and awareness regarding the benefits of cleanliness and how to ensure public health. The response from the village was very good and was also appreciated by the people living there and the Sarpanch as well.
